Being heard is important to all of us. One of the most frustrating things can be to talk with someone, think you have clearly communicated, have them nod and indicate they were listening, only to find out they haven’t heard a word you said.
Really listening to someone and hearing them tells them that you value them. Everyone wants and needs to be valued. So the next time someone is talking to you, and you’re texting with someone else, your phone rings and you automatically answer it, or you’re thinking about where to go for lunch, stop yourself and pay attention to the person standing in front of you. Value them by hearing them. The next one trying to communicate and be heard could be you.
